Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Replace Inlet Needle, briggs and stratton, expid

Question
QUESTION: Hi Eric, we had a previous conversation found here http://www.allexperts.com/user.cgi?m=6&catID=1746&expID=17636&qID=5011344

I have done nothing more since last talking with you. I have really no idea what I'm looking for. My B&S model number is 09S502-1019-B1 I have searched and I *think* my part number is 691901. Having said that, it's listed as the Seat not the needle, and I'm still just as lost.

Thanks in advance for all your help!
Laura

ANSWER: You have a Pulsa-prime carb, no seat on this model.  These carbs can not leak as there is no seat and only function when the engine is running.

Here is the parts diagram:

Will the engine try to start when priming?  Can you keep the engine running by pushing the primer bulb?

QUESTION: Yes, it started if I constantly primed it. As soon as I would stop priming it would die. I would have to have someone pulling the cord while I primed.

To fix the problem you are describing we would remove and clean the carb as shown in the video.

The only thing to note is the way the diaphragm and gasket are installed.  When you dis-assemble the carb from the tank just pay attention to which way the gasket and diaphragm is installed.
