Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh 13Hr OHV 130 206830C starter, 12 volt, electric starter

Question
QUESTION: I am attempting to find a starter but i am finding all sorts of model numbers for my mower. Some are four bolt some are two. Is ther a substantial amount of difference between the starters if the manufacture claims it will work on a OHV 130? Thanks for your help.

ANSWER: Looking at the parts diagram I see Tecumseh 730326 (replaces 36914) Electric Starter Motor (12 Volt).

If you order the OEM Tecumseh starter it should fit as most of the differences I know of are not substantial.

Are you looking at aftermarket starters?

QUESTION: I have found one (36914)on ebay for $55.00 that supposed to be new but I see what you mean about the parts diagram. They want $149.00 for (730326)and the only difference I see is it's a four bolt mount compared to a two bolt mount on the 36914. If there is no other difference that you know of I think I can make the 36914 work.
Thanks for your help,
Bill

Answer
The 36914 should work but is there any return policy on the Ebay starter?  I have been burned in the past on electronic parts from Ebay.

Have you called around your area to see if there is an electric motor rebuilder near you?  I used such shops in the past and they will usually warranty their work.
