Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ryobi RM-65P 4 Stroke lawnmover, oil dipstick, 2 nuts

Question
QUESTION: Hi
I just bought a Ryobi RM-65P lawnmover... I took it out of the box filled it up with oil (600ml according to the manual) filled it with petrol and started it, after like 10 minutes I stopped and opened up the oil dipstick and the oil came boiling out..!!!! It seems very thin, like if there is petrol inside it... What could the problem be??? Carburetor??

ANSWER: Yes, it sounds like the needle in the carburetor is stuck allowing fuel to seep into the crankcase of the engine.

if you check the oil level does it get higher as you leave the mower sit?  This is a sure telltale sign that you have an inlet needle leaking in the carb.

Thanks for your question.

QUESTION: Thank you... How do you fix this?

ANSWER: A carb cleaning or replacement should take care of the problem.  Make sure you clean any foreign material from the inlet needle area.  I would recommend you check the float to make sure its not cracked. Remove the float from the carb and shake it.  Do you hear fluid inside?  if so it needs to be replaced too.

Here in USA its often cheaper to simply replace the carb then to try a rebuild only to find out afterwords it did not resolve the problem.

Make sure you drain the diluted oil from the crankcase and replace with SAE 30

Have a great day

I'm a bit of a nut when it comes to mechanical stuff...
Is it possible that you can maybe explain how to in more detail??
The bowl underneath has got 2 nuts is the one a jet??? How do i do this without damaging the carb???

Note : this is the second motor... the 1 st also lasted only 3 days then i exchanged it for the same reason as this one... Am i doing something wrong?

Answer
Can you post an image of the carb so I can walk you through this.  I want to make sure we are on the same page and are talking about the same thing.

However, since its the second one doing the same thing you bring up a good point.  Let me ask you this, when the fuel tank is full of gas/petrol do you load the mower into a vehicle and then transport it somwhere before you start to mow with it?  IF you do what MAY be happening is the float is bouncing and allowing fuel/gas/petrol to seep into the crankcase. To resolve this problem you simply need to turn the fuel off by using the fuel shutoff valve before transport.

Actually when not using the mower you could turn the fuel off too.  This would prevent the fuel/petrol from seeping into the crankcase and diluting the oil

What kind and weight Oil are you using?

Just so we are on the same page..PETROL is gas/fuel correct?
