Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): No start 8HP Tecumseh = weak spark, ariens snow blower, gap point

Question
Hi - I have an Ariens Snow blower with a Tecumseh 8HP engine. Model HM80 - 155020. No start situation. Spark is too weak to jump plug gap. Point air gap set at .020. Placing plug wire near ground while cranking, produces weak spark. Connecting plug to wire and grounding plug to block produces NO spark. Have cleaned points also. Was wondering if it might be the condenser or the coil? Haven't a clue which way to go. HELP!!!! at wits end. Would like to getting it running before the nasty white stuff falls from the sky. THANKS!!!! in advance JIM

For starters, I would remove the flywheel cover, Re gap between the flywheel and coil 0.018. Also lightly clean the outer surface of the flywheel with a thin spray of oil and emery cloth; not uncommon for the magnets to rust.
While you have the flywheel off, you should replace both the points and the condensor - both only run about $10 to $12 retail total. Gap the points at 0.018", when you tighten the screw they'll open up to the correct gap of 0.020". Oops, just let one of my little secrets go...for antique restoration anyway!
If the points have a black rubbing block, they should DEFINITELY be replaced. They had a history of the spring connection loosening up by the point contact.
You may have a red wire that connects to the black wire and goes up by the carb. this is the ignition kill circuit.

Valve Clearances are .010 on BOTH valves
