Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Engine Stop Cable Replacement for Murray 22265x8c, briggs stratton engine, briggs stratton

I am trying to replace the engine stop cable (model 1101363MA) on a Murray Push Lawn Mower (22265X8C-circa 2000/2001).  I am not certain which end I should install first, the end that attaches to the side of the Briggs/Stratton engine or by the engine stop handle/Main push handle. The more pressing issue, is I cannot figure out how to attch the "T" end of the cable on the handle bar area.  Do I keep the engine start lever/handle in the on or off position?  Any assistance or pics would help.  I tried finding the owners manual on line with little success.  Thanks so much.

install the engine side first then you can install the handle side. Up on the handle you must split the handle case carefully,so as not to break the housing.Once the engine side is connected and left in the on position then.it would be in the brake mode.
