Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): john deere L120, correct positions, key switch

Question
I was mowing today and the blades quit turning, I am a good mechanic but before I go further I would like some input.

Found a bad wire in a connector (yellow wire), fixed that, it still will not engage  and the motor will not turn over with the key. Fuse is good, no voltage to clutch with key on and button pulled, any ideas?

Answer
I have to assume you tested the battery first, and found it able to take a load? With a confirmation of a good battery present, time to get out the test light. But first off make sure all safety items are in the correct position. Almost sounds like a safety issue now that he engine wont turn over with a good battery. Might want to make sure the PTO isn't locked up. Doubt this is the case if the safeties are in the correct positions or it would have power to the clutch. I am wondering if the yellow wire is the charging wire from the stator, or voltage regulator, and when it broke the battery never became charged, and was a matter of time before the PTO used what it had in the battery then it all went dead. Just is too much of a coincidence the PTO stopped working, and then the engine now won't turn over...Check these items out first then move on to the key switch, which would cause BOTH situations....Need further help send me a follow up...Tom
