Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Murray rider model 287707 type 1272-e1 code 991217ze, fuel filter, spark plugs

I have a Murray rider 14.5 ohv I/c quite motor. Thy I can't seem to figure out for the life of me first off it I got it from a Guy that let it be out side year round. So when I got it I clean Carb new fuel filter plug. New gas. And everything jumped started it ran fine shut it of then two hours later jumped@it again starts right up every time but then just dies so I get looking at it thought it wad iginiton switch got a new one same thing happining then though maybe Carb tried a different Carb off a different motor. That RN fine did the same thing so was looking at it while it starts up and I see that the governor keeps boaging it out after it starts and is running for a little bit but every time the governor will pull back and make it kill its self if u could help it would be awesome I just don't get it why it keeps doing this and how to fix it please thanks ant Murray model 287707 type 1272-E1 code 991217ze

How long does this run before it shuts down? What you can do is test the unit with a spark tester,start the mower and let it run as soon as it shuts down take the spark tester and hook it up one end goes in the plug wire the side that has a clip goes to  good ground then start it and check to see if you have spark. A lot of times the coil starts to get bad and when it gets hot it will break down and shut the engine off,this is what is causing the Governor to go back and forth it is surging as the spark plugs looses spark and gets it back again until it gets too hot then shuts off. Once it cools it will restart
