Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 12 Tecumseh OHV, fuel compression, air gap

Question
Hi, I was givin a ridding mower with a 12hp tecumseh OHV motor, I cant get it to so much as pop, ive cleaned the plug, checked the spark which seems a bit weak and did a compression check "60".
I even squirted a little carb cleaner in the spark plug hole and still didn't get so much as a pop.
Any Ideas?
What should the compression be on this motor?
Thanx
Dave

Answer
4 things needed to start.  Timing, Compression, Ignition, fuel

Compression should be alright.  An inline spark tester with an air gap of 0.166 inch will tell for sure if the ignition module is good.

Will the engine try to start if you prime a little gas in the carb?  Have you pulled the valve cover off and checked the valves?

The valve clearance can be found here:

Let me know if the engine tries to fire gas.
