Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Weedwacker fuel line, craftsman weedwacker, fuel leaks

Question
I purchased a replacement fuel line for my Craftsman Weed Whacker model 358796260. The line that goes all the way into the tank and attaches to the fuel filter is too thin for the hole in the tank and fuel leaks from the hole when you pump the bulb or turn the machine over. The other line fits snugly in the hole in the tank and does not leak. I got one piece of line directly from Craftsman parts and it is all the same size and I cut it up. Any suggestions on plugging the hole, drill a new hole? If I use a different size I'm afraid it won't fit on the carburator or the fuel filter...Thanks.

The part number that you purchased was it a 530069216?
The fuel line routing is from the filter in the tank to the inlet side of the carb. Then from the other outlet of the carb to the primer and then back to the tank

You should have one large fuel line and one smaller. Also you should have gotten a grommet with the same line kit. This eliminates some chance for error. If you have 2 small fuel lines to the carburetor connect them and start the engine. Reversing the fuel lines will not prevent the engine from starting. If you have them connected backwards, the engine will start and die. Reverse them and you will be correct.
The routing of the fuel lines vary from model to model. Keep in mind that the primer bulb circulates fuel from the tank, through the carburetor, and back into the fuel tank. One line goes from the fuel tank to the carburetor. One line goes from the fuel tank to the primer bulb, from the primer bulb to the carburetor, and back to the fuel tank. Do not drill a new hole as then you will have more problems. If you get a size that fits tight in the hole then it will fit on the other fittings you will just have to lube it with some lubricant to help you get it on.
