Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): KOHLER Courage XT-7, kohlerengines, lawn mower

I bought a new lawn mower last summer. All was fine until this year I can't start it. The rope pulls and sounds like it might start but it doesn't.
I've tried new gas, checked the air filter,but there is little else I can do. The engine seems to be completely closed. I don't know how to check anything ele. Oil is fine. I see no primer to prime it. Can you help me? Thanks!!

Have you checked for spart?  Did you drain all the old fuel from the carburetor bowl to make sure the engine is receiving fresh fuel?  Does the engine feel like it has compression?

Take a look at the Owner's and Service Manual.

Page 5.5 shows a drawing of the carburetor drain screw.

Let me know if draining the carb fixes the problem.
