Ford: service engine soon light 2001 f-150 picup, carbon buildup, egr system

Question
This is the second time this light has appeared. Have replaced gas cap and ran gas with additive for carbon buildup. That worked the first time, but not this go round. hooked it up to anaylizer at auto zone and got a code showing a problem with
the egr system but not a specific diagnosis. Is my only solution to go to a Ford dealer or What?
The truck has been running fine but I want to resolve this issue. Thanks

You could take your EGR valve off and knock the carbon out of it, which will solve the problem for a while but you will need to replace your EGR valve and they are not cheap (I believe that they are over 50 bucks). Hope that this helps and good luck.
