Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): McCulloch fuel line placement, zama carburetor, line ports

Question
I have a McCulloch #3516 Chainsaw that both fuel lines broke at the same time and after replacing the fuel lines it only starts and them dies once the prime runs out.  I was unsure how they were to be placed back on the carburetor and prime bulb.  It has a Zama carburetor that has two gas line ports coming off of it.  One on each side.  Currently I have the line with the fuel filter attached in the tank going to the priming bulb and the second port on the prime bulb going to the carburetor.  It seems to prime perfectly.  The second gas line coming of the right side of the carburetor seems to just go back into the tank and sit there at the top of the tank.  Does this seem right or  do I have something hooked up wrong?

Answer
First, if the lines were bad odds are the carburetor diaphragms/gaskets, which are made of the same material, are hard and brittle as well.  The should be replaced.

Check out the link below as it will describe how to overhaul the carb and which kit you need to purchase for your carburetor.
