Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere LA100, straight shaft, conversion kit

Question
I am a recent amputee due to an infection. Is it possible to move the brake peddle from the left side of the mower to the right side? John Deere said they have no such conversion.

Answer
Hello Marvin:

>>There is No Conversion Kit, but I have McGuivered Several Brake Changes like you are Asking about.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. *You can Drag the View Windows for Better Viewing.*
>>You will have to Locate a Local Machine Shop or a Good Welder/Fabricator that will Undertake this Project and have them make the Modifications you Require.
>>It is a Simple Modification and can Usually be Completed in about 3 to 4 Hours. The Brake Shaft (#2) to the Straight Section is Cut Off at the Bend, leaving just the Straight Shaft Across the Front of the Unit.
>>Now Weld the Section that was Removed to the Right Side of the Brake Shaft.
>>A Short Section of Round Stock may have to be Added to the Brake Pedal so it can be Attached to the Brake Shaft and Operate Correctly.
>>I Always Add a Small Flat Plate to Support the Welded Section of the Brake Shaft.
>>There are Other Slight Modifications also, like the Slot in the Unit for the Pedal to Protrude thru if the Frame is Not Already Stamped for this (if applicable).
>>Some of these Mowers have the Pedal on the Outside of the Frame and the Foot Deck is Not Required to be Cut.
>>Doing the Modification this Way Does Not Require Moving Any Other Brake Components and will Not Effect the Safe Operation of the Unit.
>>If you Hit a Snag, have More Questions or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
