Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): toro ccr2000e snow blower, torsion spring, assembly drawings

Question
QUESTION: Hi John,

my toro will only throw snow with the choke either half or fully on. it ran fine until this past storm when it ran out of gas.  i replaced the plug and also made fresh gas mix for 50:1 ratio.  i check the float on the carb and the needle was not opening very fast when float comes down.  cleaned it all up but there is a little black piece i think called a spacer float.  when i put it on it seems to prevent the float from coming down at all and no gas can get in.  if i take the spacer off the float and needle seem to work fine.  i have not tried running it yet though.  that part is obviously there for a reason but it seems to be preventing proper operation.  i also lost the little torsion spring, do i really need it?

thanks
Keith

ANSWER: Hello Keith:

>>Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you.
>>The Reason for the Spring and the Float Spacer is to Assist the Float in Moving easier and Prevent the Float and Needle from Sticking.
>>Older Style Carburetor do Not use these Components, and they can be Left Out, but the Carburetor may have Gas Flooding or Starving Problems.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower at this Site Addy, https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/default.cfm and Select Start Parts Viewer. Now Enter the Model Numbers (??????) and Click Search. Now Select View Assembly Drawings for your Year Model.

QUESTION: got it cleaned up, needle valve sticking, also inlet to carb from primer bulb clogged up, gas mix also too rich from improper measuring.  Problem now is i need new bowl gasket, old one won't seal.  gas keeps flooding out of bowl around gasket.  wondering if float isn't closing needle valve???  would the lost spring assist in more forceful closing of needle valve?  the gas level in the bowl has to be pretty darn high to start coming out of the bowl at the gasket.  just my thoughts, i'm not a pro!  I have ordered a new gasket and spring and spacer float to return to OEM specs.  let me know what you think.  thanks so much

Keith
