Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Husqvarna Rancher 455 Oiler Problem, pinion gears, husqvarna rancher 455

Question
My Husqvarna Rancher 455 Chainsaw goes through oiler pinion gear drives faster than a tank of gas.  The local repair shop told me to replace the oil pump because it might be gaulded and causing the problem due to occasional drag, but it did not help.  I have replaced 5 pinion gears this fall.  I have blown out the oil lines and oil filter, cleaned the bar oil hole and still have the problem.

Answer
Hello Scott:

>>Where should I Start?
>>I have Replaced 20 to 30 of these Oiler Drives/Pinions and Pumps and the Only Remark I have is, "the Pumps and Pinions are Junk.
>>This is Not Saying that Husqvarna is a Bad Product.
>>It Seems that the More we Rely on Parts and Equipment from Other Countries we are getting Lower than Expected Quality and it is Really Starting to Show in the Products that are Sold to us in the US.
>>I have had 1 Year Old Units that the Ign Coil could Not be Replaced Due to the Ign Coil being Discontinued or the Ign Coil Cost More than Purchasing a New Chain Saw.
>>A Recent Example was a Saw that Cost $99.00us New but 14 Months Later the Ign Coil went Bad and when Looking for a Replacement I Found that the Ign Coil was Discontinued and I could Not even Locate 1 on the Web.
>>I Also Learned that the Coil, when it was Available, Cost $89.00us Plus Tax to Purchase it.
>>I'm Sorry, but that seems Really Messed up for Sure.
>>It is Possible that the Oiler Pump is Slightly Offset causing a Slight Bind to the Pinion and Pump that Creates a Constant Drag on the Pinion and Pump.
>>As for the Actual Pump and Pinion, it May be that you have been Purchasing the Replacement Parts from the Same Dealer/Source and they May have a "LOT" ("Lot" in this case means Production Batch) that was Manufactured Incorrectly.
>>Try Purchasing the Replacement Oiler Pump from a Different Dealer/Source.
>>Have you been Priming the Oiler before Installation?
>>Not Priming the Oiler will cause Damage to the Oiler when the Saw is First Started with the New Oiler Dry.
>>As Always, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. I Hope you Had a Happy Holiday and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
