Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): shear pin on a Simplicity 2 stage Sno-away snowblower, shear pins, shear pin

Question
I had both shear pins on the auger shaft of my
Simplicity Sno-away snowblower shear off. The first
one was easily replaced but the second one can't be
found in the shaft so it can be punched out....should
both pins be exactly lined up on the shaft? how else
can I find this broken pin? I know this isn't an engine
question but I hope you can still help..this has become
very time consuming and frustrating.  Thanks in advance for
your help!

Answer
what has happened is the shaft has turned inside the auger after the shear pin broke.  This can be very difficult to repair and often results in complete disassemble of the auger to aling the shear pin hole back up as the shaft is usually rusted and will not turn.

I hope this helps..
