Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): The craftsman is Stuck, speed transaxle, input shaft

Question
QUESTION: Dear John Bridgers. Sr.,
I have a craftsman tractor stuck in the middle of my yard ,
The model # is 917-271110, 6 speed transaxle I cannot go anywhere the wheels in the back one goes forward and the others goes backwards. Please help I need to be able to move the machine before the snows flies in New Hampshire.
Good Bless You John
Jules

ANSWER: Hello JulesDe Foor:

>>The Easiest Way to Move this Unit is to Take Off the Ground Drive Belt at the Engine Pulley.
>>This will Allow the Input Pulley to Turn and then Both Axles will Turn at the Same Time and in the Same Direction.
>>I Use a Hand Cart and Lift the Rearend of the Ride-on Mowers that have this Problem at the Shop.
>>The Differential in the Transaxle is Not Allowing Both Wheels to Turn in the Same Direction Due to the Belt Holding the Input Shaft Pulley and Not Allowing the Differential to Turn Freely.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

QUESTION: Thank you,I have removed the ground drive belt.  But to no avail, it is still stuck!  Do you have any more suggestions as to what I may do?
Thank you so much!

Answer
Hello Again JulesDe Foor:

>>Did you make Sure the Belt was Not Stuck to the Transaxle Input Shaft Pulley?
>>Loosen the Belt from the Transaxle Pulley so the Input Shaft can Turn Free of the Belt.
>>Are you Sure the Transaxle is in Neutral?
>>I have 1 of these Units in the Shop and will Use it to Research this Problem Today.
>>I will Follow up to you this PM with Any Other Suggestions that I May After Researching this Problem.
>>As Always, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Have a Happy Holiday Season and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.
