Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh 3.5 vantage running problem, spec numbers, valve clearances

Question
QUESTION: My lawnmower has this engine fitted and after about 30 minutes running starts to splutter and cough as if it is short of fuel.
I know this is not the case because it has been refueled before the mowing session and this is confirmed when I look inside the fuel tank and there is clearly sufficient fuel available.
I have already taking the carb apart and cleaned all the bits as best I can and for a while it was running OK, but it has started to play up again as if short of fuel.
I have double checked the fuel feed from the tank and that is OK.
Can you offer any advice as to what more I can do the resolve this problem?
Thanks very much in advance.
Regards,
Alan

ANSWER: Hello Alan:

>>If you did Not Soak the Carburetor in Cleaning Solution, then the Carburetor may still be the Cause of this Problem.
>>The Coil Heating up and Breaking Down Internally or the Valve Clearances Requiring Adjusting can Also cause this Problem.
>>Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hello John,
Thank you. I can relate to the points that you have made. When you refer to the coil do you mean the magneto? There is no battery fitted so I guess you mean magneto.
The engine details are as follows VAN148 E-36142D S0164A.
I think that these numbers refer to engine model E-36.
I agree with your inputs so far and welcome anymore comments that you may have.
Thanks again.

Alan
