Sounds like you have dirt in the carburetor, look in the fuel tank to see what is floating around. Clean out the tank,if it is full you can save the gas and then use a strainer to return it to the now cleaned out tank.I am not certain which model you have, but most models that do use a fuel pump will have it situated after the fuel filter so that might not be your problem area.
It is more likely you have something preventing the fuel from leave the fuel tank itself.
Most times that is a blocked tank vent. As the engine runs, it draws fuel out of the tank and if no air can come through the vent to replace the fuel it eventually creates a vacuum. After a period of running, as more and more fuel is drawn out, the vacuum in the tank becomes stronger than the draw from the engine and the engine literally runs itself out of gas.
You can usually confirm the problem pretty easily. Next time the unit begins to stall out just remove the fuel cap, if the engine returns to normal running then your issue is a plugged tank vent.
Most models vent through the tank cap so it may need to be replaced. Others may have a separate vent line that needs to be cleaned or replaced or might just vent past the threads on the cap, in which case the threads might be damaged or the cap may just be on too tight. Run the engine without the tank cap for testing only and do not drive the tractor with the cap off or fuel may splash out onto hot parts and create a serious safety hazard.
If removing the cap does not help the unit run better then you might have some debris in the tank itself or going into the filter that gets drawn in until it blocks the fuel flow.
Or, there might be an issue with an electrical part that shorts after it gets hot. Most times that is an ignition coil and you can confirm it has shorted by testing to see if it has lost spark just after it stalled. There is more on that testing and some other basic troubleshooting that might help in the links below and your Owner's Manual will also have some basics to consider.
If you do need the fuel pump you will find it and other related engine parts under either the tractor or engine model number on the Sears PartsDirect site. The tractor model number will be on a decal on the fender, usually behind or under the seat and also on the manual. The engine model number will be listed in your manual or under the tractor model on the PartsDirect site and also on a decal on the engine blower housing.
