Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): mower quits running, bread wrapper, wd 40

Question
I have a ferris zeroturn mower model500 with KAWASAKI 21 HP
ENGINE FH641V-CS25-R  It is a 2005 model. The mower runs great for awhile and then just stops running. It seems to just run out of gas. If you choke it it will start right back up and run again for awhile and then quit. When it quits it stumbles just like it ran out of gas. I would appreciate any suggestions  Thanks  Randy

Working on lawn mowers and snowblowers i see this all the time. Depending on what kind of carburator it is it is in the carburator. Could be the needle in sticking, or the gas that was left in the tank fermented a tad and lost its bang. Could be if it is a pulsa prime carburator the diaphragm needs to be changed. Just make sure when you change this item, you make sure the spring goes back on, this is done after you drench the carb and upper housing with carb cleaner and blow it out very well. As for the other carbs, a good cleaning out would be good. If you can some people spray some wd-40 into the carb bowl area and this loosens up the junk. Make sure you always blow out the main jet too. Its the brass colored nut that holds the bowl on. It has holes in it, a bread wrapper wire passed through these holes, followed by carb cleaner and the air to make sure its cleaned out should also do it. Make sure you put the fiber gasket back on the main jet before you install it back on the carb. If you don't, you will have a leaking problem. Hope this helps
