Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Riding Lawnmower wont start, briggs and stratton, riding lawnmower

Question
First of all I am a novice.  But I am desperate and can work through things if you give me enough details.  I have a Murray riding lawn mower (12 HP 38") with a Briggs and Stratton rebuilt engine. (11 HP 3600R/MIN SAE J607).  It will not start. I had the battery check out and it is fine. When you turn the ignition it makes a clicking noise sometimes and sometimes not.  But will not turn over.  I have a feeling it is the starter or solenoid.  But How do I go about finding out?  Thanks.

Answer
It sounds like the solenoid, but in order to test it you need a test light. If you have one, you clip the ground wire to a ground then put the light on the small white wire on the solenoid, then attempt to start the mower as usual and if the light lights up then move your test light end to the starter and if there's no light it's the solenoid.
