Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): rotatiller, honda engine, intake valves

Question
QUESTION: what can make intake valves break or come out trough a different hole and get stuck? what step would be needed to replace it back? problem is on my gc160la-mha2 honda engine.

ANSWER: Did the timing belt break and cause the piston to contact the intake valve?  Have you removed the head to see if the piston is dented on top?

QUESTION: the timing belt is ok.do u still think the piston might be dented on top? i still want to know what causes the intake valves to bend break or break trough a different direction.

Answer
I have seen engines over speed cause issues but usually the cam breaks which in term causes valve damage.  If the timing belt "jumps" a few teeth then it can cause the piston to hit the valves.

My guess is the piston or timing belt caused the damage.  Are you trying to rebuild the engine?
