Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda EM6000GP (propane generator), propane generator, wire colors
EM6000GP
QUESTION: My EM6000GP has 1629 hours logged. No spark. New plug. Resistence checked on plug cap, ignition coil, secondary coil, charge coil, and ESS unit. All seem within or near limits (1st time I've done this). Ignition coil reinstalled, air gap set to .012. Still no spark.

ANSWER: Being a honda, I'm sure it has low oil shutoff protection. Have you checked the low oil sender? Have you checked the spark with the ground disconnected from the coil?

QUESTION: That's the ESS (engine stop switch) unit. My instruction was to disconnect the black wire, do spark test. No spark--do ignition system testing. Since I had no spark I began testing the ignition system. IF there had been a spark then supposed to test yellow wire and if no spark then it's the ESS unit. BUT, had to spark with the 1st test. The ground for the ignition coil is the one going to the ESS unit. Correct? I did not try to get a spark with that wire disconnected.

Answer
It sounds like you have a great deal of information already. I don't work on Honda that often and can't tell you wire colors, but if you disconnect the wire going to the coil and you still have no spark, you have a bad coil. If you get a spark, isolate the oil shutoff and bypass it and reconnect your wire to coil. If this gives you spark then the shutoff is bad. Honda's are very dependable, and I have only installed 1 coil in ten years but had a couple of the low oil shutoffs go bad. That is probably your problem.
