How do I take the governor out of my lawn mower?It is a murray select 12.0 hp.It is a 2004

What engine do you have? Briggs and Stratton, Tecumseh, Kohler?  What is the engine model, type and code/spec/serial number?

No matter which brand you have you will have to remove the oil pan to remove the governor.  However, some engine models use the gover to oil the internal engine parts.

Let me know the engine numbers so I can look up your engine.
