Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Wont Cut Right, craftsman, spindle

Question
I have a 10 year old Craftsman tractor (18.5HP, 6-speed, 42" deck). For several months the right side of the deck will not cut right (leaves grass higher - almost uncut). We have checked the usual things (deck is level, spindle is good, newer belt is tight, blades sharp and on correctly). My guy is stumped. Any ideas?  ThanX  Rick

Answer
Sounds like you've covered almost everything. The only thing I can see you didn't mention is the pitch of the deck. Check the difference between the height front to back, it should be a little lower in the front than the rear, I suggest no more than a half inch. This helps improve vacuum and should make the grass stand up so it can be cut.
