Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawnboy lawnmower, electronic modules, specks

Question
QUESTION: Hi there

I have a lawn boy lawnmower that refuses to start and when I checked for spark it had non so I removed the flywheel cover and the magnets where rusty so I lightley sanded them with a fine sheet of emrey paper and I think that will solv the problem but I need to knopw the armature gap and I cant find it on the internet so I was wondering if you could tell me

The specks on thew machine are:
Model: 22261
Serial: 24000117
And it is a commercial mower with an aluminum deck.
thanks
Derek

ANSWER: The engine service manual is available on Toro's website:

Adjust gap by loosening screws, inserting Lawn-Boy gauge (P/N 604659) or a piece of .010" (.25
mm) shim stock and tightening screws. Remove the shim stock or gauge.

Make sure the shut-off cable is not stretched or broke.  I've seen cables stretch causing the cable not to fully pull the start brake assebly which kept the ignition system grounded and thus no spark.

Let me know if this helps.

QUESTION: Hi there
I did reset the armature gap on the mower to the correct gap but when i put it back together it still had no spark any more suggestions?
thanks Derek

Answer
Is there just one small wire connected to the ignition module?  If so, dis-connect the small wire and check for spark.  If you have spark then the module is fine.  If no spark, then the module is most likely bad.

Follow the small wire from the ignition module to the shut-off switch.  If there are any other electronic modules connected to the ignition module let me know.
