Volvo Repair: lights, volvo dealer, stranger things

Question
Several times (2-3) in the past year my 99 V70s turn signals and head lights fail at the same time. Moving the light switch will not recover the lights. The next time I use the car the lights seem to function normal. The local Volvo Dealer says that the switch was changed during servicing because of a recall on the switches. He thinks that I'm nuts. Could the new switch be bad? What's common between the turn signals and head lights? Thanks."

Answer
There isn't really any common points between the two systems.  I have a hard time believing it myself, but I have seen stranger things.  Theres not gonna be much you can do unless you can get a qualified technician to observe the failure because he couldn't find the problem until it does it.  Otherwise its just guess work.  Those switches had a defect in them where the contacts wore out and failure of the new switch is practically unheard of.  I haven't seen one since the recall was introduced a year ago.  I wish I could be of more help but this problem is too unique to give much more advice.
