Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): kawasaki, kawasaki engine, commercial walk behind mower

Question
I have a john deere 48 commercial walk behind mower with a kawasaki 14 hp motor. Lately it's been cutting out when pto is engaged but would pick back up after a few seconds. I wanted to use it today and it would not start. I pulled the spark plug and there was no fire. This is a pull start so I put a test light at ign switch and had juice when I cranked. After that I was lost without a diagram. Any ideas.  Thank You

Here is the Kawasaki engine check chart:

There first place to start is to isolate the engine ignition system from the mower chasis.  You can do this by dis-connecting the wire that runs from the shut-off switch to the engine.  Dis-connect the wire as close to the engine as possible, usually there is a spade terminal you can dis-connect.

If you have an FC420V engine, you can perform a resistance check on the ignition system as described on page 36.

Let me know what you find.
