Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawnmower - gas in oil compartment, oil chamber, oil tank

Question
My 12-year-old wanted to help with the lawn today and went to put more gas in the mower but put the gas into the engine oil compartment.  They did try to start the mower after doing this, as well.  Is there a way to get the gas out of the oil chamber?  Is the mower salvageable?
Thank you!

You can drain to oil out of the mower then put new oil in it 30 w only. Then run it maybe 2  different cutting cycles. Then change the oil again this will help get the fuel out of the oil tank.  you didn't tell me what kind of mower you have so I really cant give you any help.
