Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): electrical problem, craftman, electrical problem

Eric, have a 19.5 Craftsman mower the runs great, but shuts down as soon as you try to engage the blades or release the clutch. Have replace the clutch safety switch and the one for the blade lever and checked the seat switch. Could the problem be in the ignition switch?

I doubt the ignition switch is the problem.  Have you checked to see if the insulation on a wire is wore through and causing a short?  Pay attention to places where the wire harness goes through holes in the mower frame and check around parts that move, such as the clutch and blade engagement lever.  Can you send me the Craftman mower model number located on the Craftsman sticker?  The sticker is usually under the seat and the model number format will be similar to xxx.xxxxx or xxx-xxx-xxx.
