Dangling wire
Hi John,
I recently acquired a 9hp snowblower with a tecumseh engine 143.029003. There is a wire dangling.  It is located next to one end of the starter, seems coming out of flywheel area (could not see the end that is behind the coil cover).  The open end of the wire is a male connector (like plug-in side of an earphone), shielded by a white plastic sleeve with fork type tips.  My questions are:
1. What is it?
2. Where is it supposed to connect to?
3. Does it do any harm if I operate the machine without connecting it to somewhere?
The machine seems running ok without it.

Thanks a lot for your time.

Answer
Hello Jason:

>>Thanks for the Picture.
>>From your Description and After Viewing the Picture you Included it Looks to be the Stator/Charging Coil Wire.
>>Usually Snow Throwers/Blowers Do Not have a Stator/Charging Coil (aka Alternator Coil on this engine).
>>I Believe this Engine was Used to Replace the Original Engine on this Unit.
>>This is Not Connected to Anything on this Unit.
>>It will Not Harm Anything by Not being Connected.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the S. Then Select Sears. Then Select 143. Now Select Dont have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers 143.029003 Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing.
>>In the Breakdown the Part Reference Number for the Alternator Coil is 315 and the Terminal End you Described is #323.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I Hope to be Here if You Require More
Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please.
>>Have a Happy Holiday Weekend and May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
