Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): generator wont start, gasoline generator, honda parts

Hi.I have a 4 stroke generator I bought last year.Its been running fine .I built a dock and a shed but now I'm having a bitch of a time trying to get it started.I have good gas in it.Oil level is up.Spark plug looks good.Its a JDP3500 gasoline generator by power products.The place I bought it from said it was made from after market honda parts.It backfires once in a while.Any help would be appreciated.Brad Welland Ontario.

Will it start if you manually prime the engine?  You will need to remove the air filter and find a device to use for priming the engine.

Did you drain the old gas from the carbuertor by removing the float bowl nut located on the bottom of the carburetor?
