Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda GXV530 engine, negative battery cable, honda engine

Question
I have a lawn pride mower with a honda engine. Lately after 4 hours of mowing my battery is dead. I replaced the battery to no avail. Finally I started the mower and removed the battery cable and it died. When I charge the battery it starts and runs fine until the battery goes down. There appears to be a charging problem. What could be the cause?

Answer
hi

sounds like the charging system is not working

alternator may be faulty  or the reg/ rectifier is faulty / blown
you could also have a bad/ broken battery cable ( you stated you moved battery and it died )AND IS NEW

PAY TO CHECK ALTERNATOR FOR CORRECT OUTPUT VOLTS @ REV  IF HAS VOLTAGE
THEN  CHECK REG/ RECTIFIER AND MAY NOT BE LETTING VOLTAGE GET TO BATTERY

BUT CHECK YOUR WIRES FOR SHORTS / CHAFFING 1ST  MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED

CHECK NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE FOR GOOD GROUND AND MAKE SURE REG/RECTIFIER IS GROUNDED AS WELL
THEY NEED A GOOD GROUND TO OPERATE  AND A MINIMUM OF 7 VOLTS CONTINUOSLY TO BE ABLE TO PASS CURRENT TO BATTERY

CHEERS  HAVE A LOOK AND CHECK
