Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Surging push mower, kawasaki engine, push mower

QUESTION: Hi i am trying to work out the surging on a john deere push mower. It has a ohv 4.5 horse engine. Model number of the push mower is 14sb. I have cleaned the carb and jets and i still does it. Can you suggest anything else?

ANSWER: Did you blow compressed air, from an air compressor, through all the carburetor orfices?  Do you have the Kawasaki engine?

QUESTION: No i didn't blow it out, that was my next step unless you had another idea.

I would remove, dis-assemble and blow out all the carb orfices with compressed air from an air compressor.  Make sure the blow out the small holes in the carburetor throat.

TIP:  Take lots of digital pictures before and during removal so you know how to re-install the carb and connect the linkages.  Marking the connecting links will also make re-assembly easier.

Do you have the Briggs or Kawasaki engine?
