parts list does not show a drain plug as such only a oil fill plug
would you know how to go about this ?

UPDATE 1 hour later...

Paul,  I found the information... You have a Hydro Gear IHT  and as I suspected its gonna be a pain to change fluid... You need to remove the units and drain them from the fill hole Refill with 54-57 ounces of 20w50 oil.  Then you need to purge the system  There is a service manual available for this unit that cost about 15 bucks (with Shipping) http://www.m-and-d.com/HYD-BLN-51856.html  or i can get a PDF copy for you for 7 bucks from a local hydrogear dealer. Disregard my first response to you.

Paul..

I would love to help you as I dont yet have this info in my electronic library..I need a HUGE favor from you... On your transmissions there will be a manufacturer Model number and Serial Number..I need to know the manufacturer of the pump.. It will say something like HYDRO GEAR, TUFF TORQ, EATON, etc...   Get me all the numbers off this pump.  I need to see exactly what you got before I can help you any further.  I believe the 17ba5a4g710 number you gave me is the model unit of the Cub Cadet...please get me serial number as well.

I want to forewarn you however that this is not a simple  procedure like draining the oil in a car.  It is very time consuming. People sometime create more problems then they started with by attempting a change like this.   You should do both pumps at the same time too.  We do these in the shop and they can be a real pain in the butt!  Sometimes it involves complete removal of the assembly to change the oil or to help refill the unit.

Get me all the numbers you can and I will help you further.
