Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): RE: Craftsman Garden Tractor, jumper wire, rain and snow

Question
Hi Paul,
My garden tractor model #917276910 will not start. Ran through the summer last year. I changed the gas pump because with spark plugs out and putting gas directly in cylinder, the engine started briefly but died after gas burnt out.  Still no luck, wondering about seat sensor.  We left the seat up to try to preserve the seat, but it exposed the sensor through rain and snow over winter.  My daughter has never been able to start because she is very slim, but I have a more ample posterior so have never had any problem.  Can I merely disconnect seat sensor or will this cause other problems?

Answer
HI SUE

DISCONNECT THE SEAT SWITCH  AND FIT A JUMPER WIRE ACROSS THE TERMINALS IN THE CONNECTOR FOR IT
USE ELECTRICAL MALE TERMINALS  AND CRIMP UP

THIS WONT AFFECT ANYTHING  JUST MAKES TRACTOR OPERATE AS IF YOU WERE ALWAYS  SITTING ON THE SEAT

BE CAREFULL THOUGH  AS SEAT SWITCH IS ONE OF THE MAIN SAFETY INTERLOC  ITEMS  IN CASE OF ROLL OVER .

CHEERS LET ME KNOW IF WORKS

PAUL
