Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): engine swap, ac volts, model cv

Question
i recently changed out a 15hp kohler on a craftsman riding mower spec 41526 model cv155 with a 16hp kohler spec 26509 model cv 460s.everything bolted up fine, when i got to the wiring harness the terminal was different on the 16hp.it had red, white, black with yellow wire soidered to it and a green wire.the 15hp had red, black, yellow and white.so i cut the terminal from the 15hp.and butt spliced to the 16hp,using green for ground.can these engines be swaped out?

Answer
Hello Richard:

>>Other than the Wiring of the Engine for the Lights, Carburetor Shut Off Solenoid, Charging and Engine Shut Off; there should Not be a Problem.
>>From your Description it Sounds like the Stator/Charging Coil/Alternator is the Difference.
>>The Site Addy I am Sending has a Good Stator/Charging Coil/Alternator Charts and is Usually used for Diagnostics, but in this Case I Think it Might Assist you in Wiring the Unit up Correctly.
>>For Testing the Electrical (Charging) System on Mowers you can Use this Site Addy; http://engines.myfaqcenter.com/Answer.aspx?p_faqid=3438 and Use the Link for AC Volts/DC Amps Meter Setting Chart. This is for Briggs Engines and Works Well for Kohler and Other Engine OEMs.
>>For Better Assistance, Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Model Numbers are Usually Located Under the Seat on a Sticker or Tag on the Body. Sometimes I can Locate an Electrical Schematic and Assist you in the Wiring of this Unit.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
