Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): leaking oil, crankshaft seal, question pool

Question
Your question was

"Good morning Mr. Dunn,
I have a craftsman 700 lawn mower 190cc, key start or pulley purchased in summer
of 2009. I keep my lawn mower in the dining room to keep it from the elements.
Before using it on March 19, 2010, I checked the oil, and it was dry. I put in a
quart of oil, and it smoked so bad, the neighbors came outside. After parking it
for 24 hours, all of the oil had leaked out! Help. thank you, from Memphis, TN"

Answer
Hello Elizabeth:

>>Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool and I can Only Answer Questions from the Question Pool when I am Not Answering Questions here or at the Other Site I Answer Questions at.
>>From your Description it Sounds like the Lower Crankshaft Seal is Damaged and Requires Replacing or the Crankshaft is Slightly Bent and has Damaged the Lower Seal and is Causing this Leak.
>>Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine and the Unit/Mower Model Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Engine Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. The Unit/Mower Model Numbers are Usually Located Under the Seat on a Sticker on the Body of the Mower.
>>Thanks for Using All Experts and Again I Apologize for the Long Delay.

Respectfully

John
