Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Wiring problem, devilbiss generator, solinoid

Question
I have a DeVilbiss generator powered by a 11H.P. B&S.  The B&S Model#, Type,Engine Code are, 256427, 1162-E1, 9911231A.  The model # for the generator is GBFE6010-1, The problem i have is in the Stop/run/start, switch that operates the engine.  When i bought it, i was told it needed a new battery. Put a new one in, and it did nothing. I replaced the solinoid, and the starter is still not engaging.  Ive tested the starter and it works fine, Then i removed the switch, it is a 6 prong rocker switch with a momentary start.  I believe the switch is the problem but not sure.  From the switch there is a yellow wire going to the engine, a blue wire going to the switch on solinoid, a green wire going to a ground (I think), and a red wire going to the hot side of silonoid, to bring power back to the switch.  I'm not sure where all the wires go, and cant seem to find a wiring diagram showing the back of the switch, and where the wires go to on the engine.  If you could help, i would take any advise you have for me.  If you have any questions for me feel free to email me back.  Thank you so much.

Mike

Answer
Hello Mike:

>>From your Description it Sounds like a Bad Safety Switch/Sensor or a Bad Switch.
>>The Yellow should go to a Switch/Sensor on the Engine.
>>The Blue should be Attached to the Small Lug on the Solenoid.
>>The Green Wire should be a Ground and.
>>The Red Wire is the Switch Power Wire.
>>Locate the Low Oil Sensor and Disconnect it. If the Switch Works, then the Switch is Bad.
>>I Located a Breakdown of this Unit, but it does Not Provide a Wiring Diagram for the Control Panel.
>>You can View a Breakdown of the Generator at this Site Addy; http://www.devilbissparts.com/devilbiss/generator/generators.html and Enter the Model Numbers in the Window Provided or Select your Model from the List at the Middle of the Page.
