Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawn mower ignition & spark, fly wheel, feeler gauge

Question
i just read your reply on another section. i will try your suggestions. is there a clearance between fly wheel and coil that should be there?

Answer
hi john

yes there should be 0.010 " gap between magnets on flywheel and armature coil

rotate magnet away from coil , undo   both screws that hold armature down onto posts pull armature up and use screws to hold up away from  flywheel , rotate flywheel until magnets are under  coil evenly  and 2 old feeler gauge blades that measure 0.010 " under each leg and looseb  bolts bolts holding armature to posts and let the armature rest on both feeler gauges
then tighten both screws fully ( carefull dont break them )
remove the feeler gauges

hope this helps   cheers paul
