Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): please read this and respond please!, stroke oil, diaphrams

Question
QUESTION: i have a weed eater and i want to replace the spark plug but i cant find it please show me a diagram of where it is thank you oh and by the way i dont know y it wont turn on please respond.

ANSWER: hi vicki

what brand weedeater do you have ?

sthil, weedeater, jonsered, husqvarna ,ryobi  etc  to name some

the spark plug would be on the cylinder either on the under side of unit or on the top side of unit depending on construction of  trimmer

the  high tension cable will be thick black lead  connecting it to a cap you can pull off to change the plug,

as to  it wont turn on - if it has a on / off button or switch try taking one lead off the kill button & check for spark and replace plug,  squirt some 2 stroke mix

(20 mils of 2 stroke oil for each 1.0 litre of petrol you mix )

into plug hole and try to start  see if runs on that fuel mix- if so assune spark and compression are ok,  but check muffler in case its blocked
next squirt  fuel mix into carburettor throat  and open throttle   see if runs again  if not
c/case air leak or  carburettor supply  problem or carb diaphrams may not be working  due to   age

let me know what you find  and exactly what brand and model weedeater you have

cheers paul

sorry cannot send diagram as dont know what model or brand

QUESTION: its a ryobi weed eater.

Answer
please find website  for ryobi  type trimmers

http://www.hammerwall.com/Download_Manual/12139/

as explained  plug should be  either top of trimmer  or  at the bottom  where the unit would normally sitt when placed on ground to start  - it will have a plug cap and a fairly heavy ht lead attached , remove this and replace plug ,  fuel tank and carb will be to the top   exhaust will be @ the bottom

stop button or wire could be contacting earth - make  wire is not contacting earth

note does this machine drive the head around as you try to start if so , could be a sheard flywheel key
