Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Id of model and spec. no, john deere tractor, kawasaki engine

Question
I have a new Kawasaki engine That I purchased
from a gentleman that went out of his small engine
business and retired to the south.
The engine is as follows:
...............................
Kawasaki FD620-BS19
E/No FD260D 206125
...............................
I would like to utilize this engine
but I cannot find any thing on the net
pertaining to the FD260D with the
Spec. No. BS.19
Could you tell me what unit this spec. No. represents
so I can get an electrical schematic?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you, Don.

It appears you have purchased an engine that was designed for an OEM.  You will find very little info on this engine until you figure out what it came off of.  I am speculating it is an engine from a John Deere Tractor/Gator/ or Mule.

One way to find out is to contact Kawasaki and and inquire about a crankshaft replacement or simply ask them who the OEM was.  They will most likely tell you something like..."you have to get that through John Deere" or something like that... They may also tell you nothing...

When i design an engine for a product there are two types of engines, a service engine-which is an engine that is "off the shelf" that the manufacturer already makes and an OEM engine...

An OEM engine will most likely have a special crankshaft....(length, diameter, etc) and i will have the engine manufacturer sign an "exclusive" contract that that engine (which is identified by spec number) is exclusive to my product and parts such as crankshafts, electrical system parts etc.. must be purchased through me.  Does this all make sense..
