Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Chinese Generator Question, chinese engines, small spring

Question
I have a 2000 watt digital generator TM-DY2500LBI and the max output is 2200watts and since it was new it keeps surging the engine speed. I took the carburetor apart and made sure it and the fuel filter and gas tank were clean and I also replaced the servo motor on the carburetor and it still surges. When I move the choke lever over toward chock it runs better. Even when it is not powering anything it still surges the engine speed.

Answer
Is this a TIGMAX Generator by chance?  Does it say anything else on the Emissions label such as "ERMA MACHINERY Suzhou"   etc???

Hunting and surging is a very common problem with Chinese engines. It can be a carb problem or it can be a gov problem.

With the engine running and surging, hold the rod that is connected to the carb and gov arm.

Does the surging stop?  If so its a gov problem, if not its a carb problem..and you need to replace the carb.

If while holding the gov arm there is no surging, carefully unhook the small spring that is on the gov-carb link and shorten it about 1/2 inch.  SHORTEN IT ON THE SIDE THAT ATTACHES TO CARB You will need to rebend the hook and reattach the spring... What your doing is strengthening the anti surge spring.  This should resolve your problem.

Does this all make sense?  If not let me know....
