Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): gas leak, eager 1, search eric

Question
Hello,
I have a craftsman lawnmower with an Eager 1 4.0hp motor that has been sitting at my shop for awhile. I have recently pulled it out to check it out and noticed it has a gas leak. The tank was bone dry and I put a little bit of gas in it and pressed the prime bulb a couple of times and gas started leaking from where the air filter is at. I am in need of advice on what to check and what parts need to be replaced, if (of course) capable of fixing.

Thank you for your time and advice.

Answer
Leaking inlet needle/seat.  Tecumseh 631021B

Check the float as well as Tecumseh floats are more prone to leaking than Briggs floats.

If this link works it describes how to replace the inlet needle seat.

Pay attention to the governor linkages before removing the carb...take a digital picture so you know how to put it back together.

Also, there are lots of You Tube videos covering Craftsman/Tecumseh carburetor repair/overhau/rebuild/cleaning...just conduct a search.
