Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Poulan Pro weedeater spark problems, meeter, factory settings

Question
I recieved a new in the box Poulan Pro Weedeater as a trade out for taking care of a rental property for a friend. It Ran great for about half of the summer with no problems starting or running. Weedeating the back yard one day, turned it off to change line on head, turned it back over to resume and would not start. Just took it apart this weekend, took carb apart and cleaned it all up, having a problem getting continious spark now. I have tried three different spark plugs, it will get spark and then all of a sudden it wont. I removed the coil and put an OHM meeter on it and i'm getting a reading of 2.97 from the post that the kill switch connects to and the spark plug terminal and a reading of .75 from the post to the grounding point where it grounds to the block. my idea is that if there is a reading from the post to the grounding point then i would think it;s grounding out the spark. I also checked the compression and it's pushing 110lbs so that should be good. any ideas or suggestion please e-mail me back.

Thanks so much,

Answer
Inspect the inside of the cyl. Many poulan 2 cyl products fail from the factory settings on the carb. These carbs are set a little lean sometimes which causes the cyl to get to hot and score. Even with a 110 PSI compression, scoring of the cyl will make this unit very hard if not impossible to start.
As for the spark issue, It really sounds like that there may be a ground issue. Most coils won't have intermittent spark.
How old is the unit? It may still be under warranty...
