Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda GXV160, air hammer, grider

Question
Hi,
I have been trying to remove the blade adapter from the end of the crankshaft so as to install new piston and rings in a Honda GXV160 mower motor. I have been using a puller and as a last resort have applied some heat to the collar but it wont budge, do you have any suggestions or is there another way of doing it.
Is there anything else that I should be aware of in doing this job, I haven't worked on a Honda before but have done similar jobs on Briggs&Strattens.
Thanks for you help and a great website.
Gerry

Answer
Pay attention to the timing marks as you dis-assemlbe the engine.

As for the blade adapter you can can try soaking with PB blaster or Kroil.  I have also used an air hammer along with the the puller to help remove.  Leave the puller and then use the air hammer hammering around the blade adapter...not the crankshaft!  Worst case, I've used a die grider and cut off wheel to split the blade adapter and then replace the blade adapter with a new one.
