Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): honda powered generator, 10kw generator, gasoline engine

Question
I have a portable Dayton 10Kw generator powered by a Honda GX620 V-twin 20 hp aircooled gasoline engine. Unit is 10yrs old and has 62 hrs. It runs excellent when the auto-idle is off if the choke is pulled out just a little bit. When the auto-idle switch is turned on, the rpm's surge awful and cannot use this way. Therefore, i have to leave the auto-idle off. athen it runs at full speed which gets expensive and also loud. Any ideas??  Thanks

Answer
Hi Freddie,

It appears that the carburetor is the source of your problem.

CHeck to see if it set properly.

If it is, then it may need to be overhauled.

This should not be too expensive, but unless you are familiar with the part, then I would suggest a small engine shop do the work.

Anyhow, good luck with that and let me know.
