Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 245 John Deere Fouling Plugs, kawasaki engine, kawasaki dealer

Question
My mower is less than 3 years old %26 has fouled plugs since new if ran out of gas or shut off from getting off set improperly. Now if I run it with the throttle fully opened it fouls after an hour or so of mowing. It's a 20 2 cylinder Kawasaki engine. The dealer says it's the carburetor which cost $500.00 which seems high. Just wanted to know if there could be another reason or if there was a solution other than new carb. Thanks

Answer
You should have the carb rebuilt before replacement. There is a good chance that something is blocking the inlet needle from closing properly during operation. If there is another Kawasaki dealer in town, they may be able to get the carb cheaper for you as well if it turns out it does need replaced.
