Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Stihl 025 oiler, oil port, oiler

Question
i have a stihl 025 chain saw and it has been used for years. it has however stopped oiling. i tried cleaning out the lines and the oil port but no luck i am convinced that it is the oiler but i cannot get the chain brake off the saw. does it press on or is it screwed and how do you suggest getting it off. i did get the drum off but i cannot get the brake assy off.

Answer
Hi Brad,

If this info is not clearly detailed in your shop manual that came with the chainsaw, then I would suggest talking to a mechanic at the Stihl Engine shop about removal of the brake.

It is hard to say without seeing the machine. Possibly some wood filings or chips have become lodged in the machine and are causing the flow of oil to be affected.  It's hard to say.

Anyhow, give that a shot and let me know.

Regards,

Howard
