Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Lawn mower oil ran dry, lawn mower, brother

Question
I'm normally not this stupid, but I let my lawn mower oil run completely dry. I just wasn't thinking. Anyway, it started to sputter, then just quit. I refilled the oil, but it won't start. Has the engine burned up to a point it can't be repaired? Suggestions?

Answer
Hi Tom
Hate to admit it but I've done the same thing at home. Anyway, it sounds like some damage has been done. You did not say what kind of engine you have, but it usually will require an overhaul or partial overhaul to repair the engine to correct the damage. Good to know I have an "oil-less brother" out there !!!
